It's almost time

June 17, 2011 - Seth Staskey
Here we are in the latter portion of June when the weather's warm, schools are out and high school sports have slowed down. Therefore, it's time for me to embark on my first week of vacation for the 2011 calendar year.

Last year, I visited New York City. I enjoyed the hustle and bustle so well that I've decided to go to another up-tempo city. On Sunday, I will board a flight at Port Columbus International destined for Las Vegas. Yep, Sin City and I have a date for five nights. I will return to Columbus late Friday night.

I am not a wild guy by any means, but I am looking forward to taking in Vegas for an extended period of time. I don't plan on losing my car on a table game, but I am not planning on coming back to the Buckeye State filthy rich, either. It's called gambling for a reason and if everyone won big, Vegas, Atlantic City, Wheeling Island Hotel Casino, The Meadows, etc. wouldn't exist.

I am planning on taking in two shows while I am in Nevada and I know this will catch some of you by surprise, but other than visiting a few sports books, there are no absolutely no sports on my agenda. One place I am eager to visit is the site of History Channel's Pawn Stars, which is one of the hottest reality shows on television right now. I've been searching my house and I just don't see anything that would be worth parting with.

I plan on visiting the majority of the casinos and am giving serious thought to renting a car for an afternoon and driving to the Hoover Dam. In my only trip to Vegas, I flew to McCarren International Airport, spent a few hours on The Strip and departed in the middle of the night for Phoenix where I watched the Ohio State Buckeyes get routed in the BCS Championship Game by Florida.

It should definitely be a good trip. One that I've been looking forward to for quite sometime.

Follow me on Twitter (@TLSportsSeth) for updates throughout the trip. I am not taking my laptop along, so Twitter or Facebook will be the best way to follow my trip.

Have a great week, folks!
