Hard to Believe
July 26, 2011 - Seth Staskey
This is already the last week of July, which is really tough to fathom. Seems like we were just celebrating Memorial Day. With the end of July, means fall sport practices throughout the Buckeye State get under way soon.
All football teams can begin double sessions on Aug. 1 and other fall sports like soccer, cross country, golf and volleyball also begin formal practices that day.
Golf's regular season begins just a week later and the other sports get going in late August. It seems like these days go faster and faster each year.
Maybe, that's a sign of getting older. When you're younger, you spend much of your time anxiously waiting your days away as certain milestones and events occur, but when you're older, you seem like you're constantly trying to slow time down.
Another interesting thing occurred recently, which wasn't hard to believe. The NFL owners and the players union settled their dispute just in time for training camp. The only game lost was the Pro Football Hall of Fame Game in Canton. Unfortunately, the Bears were scheduled to play, which would have meant Tim Spencer back in the Buckeye State as a coach with the Bears. The Bears and Rams now will only play four pre-season games like the other NFL teams. Deep down, I am thinking they're not that disappointed by the cancellation of the game.
