Who to Root For?

January 6, 2012 - Kim Collette
As I was driving in to work this morning, I was listening to Mike & Mike in the morning. If you are not familiar with Mike & Mike, it is a sports talk show hosted by Mike Golic (a retired football player) and Mike Greenberg (a non-athletic, but very much a sports fan guy). Greenie was talking about this year's NFL playoffs, saying for the first time in 2 years he can relax and enjoy them since his team didn't qualify this year. Well, as you all know, I am a die-hard Cleveland Browns fan. There are few and way far between years that "We Browns Fans" get to root for our team. So I started thinking.....once again......who will I root for in the playoffs???

Most people will think that I would go with the two teams in the same division, geographical area as the Browns. They would assume I would go with the Steelers or the Bengals. Just because they are close doesn't mean I can stomach rooting for them. So that is a big NO! And for the other team in that division....the Ravens. Absolutely no! Remember they were the team Art Modell MOVED from Cleveland....No...I will not root for the city jumpers that stole my team.

There is also no way I can root for the Patriots. Why do you ask? Belichek stunk as a coach in Cleveland and Brady is from Michigan. So...No to them too! Let's move on to the Lions. Hmmm...again...NO! I refuse to root for a team with a "star" player who plays dirty.....namely Suh! Although I don't dislike anything about the Packers....they just won last't root for you either.

That leaves the Texans and Broncos in the AFC. In the NFC the teams I have left to root for are the Giants, 49ers, Falcons Saints. So here's what I am thinking.....

Although I think that the Tim Tebow story is amazing and interesting, I just don't think they can sustain a long playoff run. The Texans, while finally winning their division (since the Colts lost Peyton Manning), again, I don't see a long playoff run against the other AFC teams. Down to 4 more teams......

And.....the team I will root for is..................None of them......since the Browns aren't playing!
