What is going on?

April 13, 2012 - Kim Collette
I am a huge fan of sports. I think sports are a great way to learn teamwork, discipline, respect and much more. I played sports growing up and would never change anything about the lessons I learned. I still follow all the sports I can. I am a probably what you would consider a junkie. But lets get real people.....the Saints "bounty" program and Dwayne Wade commenting that the NBA players needed paid to play in the Olympics.

Let's start with the pro players wanting paid. Seriously? My beef with this is that these players are already making millions of dollars to work 82 days a year. Why do you need paid more? You are there to represent the U.S.A. not to make money or brand yourself. If you don't want to play, say no. But please don't make a mockery of the Olympics.

As for the Saints "bounty program," what can I say. It is wrong on so many different levels. You too are professionals. Do you need additional money to "twist someone's head off?" Seriously? Not one player stood up to the coach and say no? Have more respect for yourself and for the game of football. This situation is wrong on every level and each way you look at it.

I still love sports and always will. But, all I am asking is for the lessons I learned to still be taught to players today. Whether you are a pee-wee player, a high school player, a college player or a pro, remember the "game" is bigger than you are. Don't tarnish sports for the rest of us.

Until next time friends!
