Christmas Movies

December 18, 2012 - Kim Collette
One week! I can't believe it.....we are one week away from Christmas! It time to make sure you get all your favorite Holiday movies watched! Here is a list of my favorite Christmas movies. 10. ELF: I am by no means a huge Will Ferrell fan. In fact, I am not a fan at all. But, Elf is a corny funny Christmas movie. Buddy ends up in New York City to search for his "real" dad. What ensues is Buddy's Elf ways helping people have faith in Santa Claus and remember the significance of the holiday. 9. Home Alone: Just hysterical! We all know the story by now. 8 year old Kevin gets left behind while his family is celebrating Christmas in France. Kevin defends his house from moronic burglars (Joe Pesci and Daniel Stern). Pesci and Stern definitely make this movie. Watching them get "punished" over and over, still to this day cracks me up! 8. Miracle on 34th Street: New version or old version, this is still a classic holiday story. A nice old man claims to be Santa Claus. Everyone else thinks he is insane. A lawyer defends the old man by arguing he really is Santa Claus. Definitely a holiday classic that will leave you warm and fuzzy inside. 7. It's A Wonderful Life: George Bailey is shown what life would be like if he never existed. This is a great movie that actually makes you makes you think about what you are doing in your life and how it affects the people around you. And who doesn't know the quote? "Every time a bell rings an angel gets their wings." 6. How the Grinch Stole Christmas: I still prefer the cartoon version to Jim Carey's version (but I do watch both every year). The Grinch hatches a plan to wipe out Christmas for the Who's of Whoville. However, the Grinch learns what truly is important. The best part for me is Thurl Ravenscroft singing, "You're a Mean One, Mr. Grinch." 5. The Santa Clause: Scott Calvin falls into the "clause" when the current Santa falls off his roof. Scott puts on Santa's suit and magically becomes Santa. It is hysterical to watch Tim Allen in this role. 4. A Christmas Story: Yes, I know the 24 hours of A Christmas Story to some is annoying. But, I love it! The leg lamp! Fra-Geeeel-Lay! You'll shoot your eye out! Triple dog dares! So many classic moments in this movie. It is one of my favs! And....yes my tv is turned on to the marathon every year! 3. A Christmas Carol: My brother and I used to have a tradition that every year on Christmas Eve we would watch A Christmas Carol. But, it wasn't just any version. It was the George C. Scott version. Now that we have started our own families, we don't get to watch together any more. But, I still rank this movie number 3 because I will always treasure the times watching it with my brother. 2. National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation: Clark W. Griswold. My favorite movie in the Lampoon series. Just a hysterical Christmas Movie! Play ball!

But...hands down.....without a shadow of a all time favorite Christmas Movie is......

1. Irving Berlin's White Christmas: This movie makes me want to make some hot cocoa, get under a warm blanket and cuddle. It is a touching story with great music (although, I could do without the number Choreography). I watch this movie as much as possible during the holiday just never gets old to me. Bing Crosby singing White Christmas is my favorite part of the whole holiday season!

There you have it! The ten must Christmas movies for me every year!

Until next time friends!

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to each and everyone of you!
