Cardinals to take Flight
October 21, 2013 - Robert "Bubba" Kapral
THE WORLD Series unfolds this week. Not surprisingly, St. Louis will represent the National League. It marks the Cardinals' 19th pennant, tied for most with the Giants in the senior loop. The Redbirds face the Boston Red Sox. Going into spring training, the Bosox were a darkhorse to make The October Classic. The Sox finished last in their division last year. St. Louis has starting pitching that can dominate. Michael Wacha is a post-season hurling sensation. He is a shutout machine. Adam Wainright is a pitching stud. The Cards have a bullpen to close the deal. After besting the Dodgers' stellar starters, St. Louis should feast on the Bosox pitching. Boston possesses offensive firepower. The Red Sox scored more runs than any other American League club this season. They flexed those offensive muscles in eliminating the Tigers in game six of the ALCS. St. Louis is one of the best baseball cities in the major leagues. Before we turn the calendar to November, the home of the Gateway Arch will be celebrating its 12th World Series crown. I like the Cardinals in five.
