Bittersweet Time of the Year

February 13, 2014 - Seth Staskey
With February in full swing, it means high school sports for the winter season are winding down. The high school tournament trail in basketball, wrestling and swimming is a very exciting time of the year as the games, matches and strokes take on even greater importance. Unfortunately, it means the end of the season. The winter season can be long, but, in my opinion, it's the best. There's action every night of the week basically.

It won't be long that spring sports are starting. Well, if the snow ever melts off the fields and tracks that is. Who knows when baseball or softball teams will be able to get outside to begin practice? Looks like more time in the gym.

But, before we start talking about bats, balls and hurdles, let's savor the excitement of the February and March, which are the best months for high school sports on the calendar.
