The Bud-mobile Blues

August 7, 2014 - Taste Buds
The Buds have the blues. The motor vehicle blues, that is.

Both Bud-mobiles are currently out of commission, and we couldn't be sadder. Sure, we have rental wheels, but nothing beats the comfort and familiarity of your own car.

Last March, Bud S was involved in an accident when another driver ran a red light and crashed into her car, totaling Bud S's beloved Honda Civic. Only eight weeks later, Bud Em was involved in an accident when another driver pulled out in front of her, totaling Bud Em's beloved Hyundai Accent. Neither Bud was at fault for her accident, but both Buds paid by suffering from back problems AND dealing with the stress of getting a new vehicle.

A new Honda Civic for Bud S and a new Hyundai Elantra for Bud Em followed, and the new and improved Bud-mobiles were back in action. The Buds loved their new cars.

Over the 4th of July holiday, Bud S was driving along the interstate when a kamikaze bird banged into the front of her car. All was fine for a week until coolant leaked out of her car. The Bud-S-mobile is now sitting at the body shop awaiting replacement of a new radiator, new radiator support bar, new compartment for the coolant, and a new bumper cover. All because of a BIRD! Bud S is pretty convinced she hit a crow hopped up on steroids OR a pterodactyl.

Exactly one week later, Bud Em was crawling along in traffic heading up to the Highlands when a semi-truck crunched into the back end of her car. Thankfully nobody was hurt and the car was still driveable, but the crumpled trunk needed repaired, so off to the body shop went the Bud-Em-mobile.

And now, the Buds wait - impatiently - for the body shop to finish the repairs on their cars. Of course, both cars are at the same body shop. And the Buds alternate days calling about their cars, wondering with wide-eyed hope if today's the day they get their cars back.

We're hoping (fingers and toes crossed!) our repairs are completed by tomorrow and the Bud-mobiles will be back in action next week. Until then, we'll keep singing the Bud-mobile Blues - but you might want to plug up your ears.
