| | Veto The LawmakersDecember 27, 2010 - Robert "Bubba" Kapral Ohio lawmakers need be taken to task for their feeble performance in 2010. A report released this week revealed that the Ohio Legislature established a record for inaction this year. Lawmakers passed a mere 58 bills in 2010. The yearly average is 247. Taking it a step further, Ohio House members met 52 times and the Senate 58 times. The average is 83 per session. That is a poor report card for the people we elect. Their job is to lead and represent their constituents. Obviously, that was not the case this year. I am sure some state lawmakers took their jobs seriously. Unfortunately, not enough did. Elected officials must realize they have special jobs. They help dictate the well-being of our lives. They are also accountable to voters, as reflected in this past November's election. Politicians need to realize that if they don't live up to their pre-election rhetoric, they can easily be swept away. Article CommentsNo comments posted for this article. Post a Comment | |
