Remember When...
DATED 1893, this post card was postmarked 1909 in Bethesda. It shows Bishop McCabe’s visit to Epworth Park, and the original photo was tinted for sale as a post card. The bishop must have been an important visitor for his stop to have been commemorated in this way.

WITH SNOW, snow and more snow falling and covering the ground in Eastern Ohio, many residents undoubtedly are affected by the winter blahs.
The bright note, however, is that in a few weeks, spring will arrive. Although its arrival on March 20 doesn’t guarantee beautiful weather (without snow), it’s a step in the right direction.
Beautiful scenes result from the snow and ice despite the problems and inconvenience that these conditions present.
Possibly, it would be easier to withstand the problems of winter if we’d go along with the optimistic thinking of author and critic John Ruskin, who noted, “Sunshine is delicious, rain is refreshing, wind braces us up, snow is exhilarating; there is really no such thing as bad weather, only different kinds of good weather.
