It is time to heal the sick time issue
Paid time off for many working people is the only true benefit left in this country. Companies continue to require more and more out of pocket contributions for health care costs, at least from those of us who still get health care benefits and pension plans are becoming a thing of the past. Those who don’t even have sick time; the issue could end up on the ballot here in Ohio if the state doesn’t find a compromise to the situation. Hopefully, the state legislature will do its job and act on this before it goes that far. The plan is being spearheaded by a group called Ohioans for Healthy Families. What they want is for all full-time employees who work at companies with more than 25 employees to get seven days of paid sick leave each year. This also includes a plan that would require part-time employees to get sick time, but not as much and based on the amount of time they have worked.
