Monroe County dog, kennel license fees to increase
WOODSFIELD — The costs of dog licenses will increase later this year in Monroe County as a result of action taken Tuesday by the county commissioners. The dog licenses will go from $9 to $11 and a kennel license from $45 to $55, effective Dec. 1. A public hearing about the dog tags was held. Dog Warden Ronda Piatt explained the need to raise the price of tags, noting the need for money for salaries and the problems caused by higher gasoline rates and other costs. The resolution adopted by commissioners established the new fees for dog registration. In other matters, commissioners appointed Kathy Donley of Woodsfield to fill the unexpired term of the late Ruth Miracle on the Monroe Metropolitan Housing Authority board. Wayne Forshey attended the meeting concerning the Monroe County Airport, and four persons from Grizzle Ridge, including Sharon and John Huffman, told commissioners about the need for water on Grizzle Ridge.
