Bill Jobko
The forgotten Bulldog? Hardly. Granted, names such as Niekro, Havlicek and Douglas may rate increased notoriety on a national scale, but Bill Jobko stands tall among Ohio Valley sports legends. Because his exemplary prep and collegiate careers occurred during the mid 1950s, Jobko played, primarily, prior to the revolution of electronic age media which greatly expanded communication and introduced millions to a new generation of sports heroes. Rest assured, Bill Jobko is a member of that fraternity. After making a lasting mark at Bridgeport High from where he was graduated in 1953, Jobko went on to become one of the most dominant players in Ohio State University football history. He played on two national title-winning teams (1954, 1957) for Hall of Fame coach Woody Hayes, then went on to enjoy great success in the professional ranks, performing with three National Football League teams.
