LET THE games begin, state playoff games that is. The second season unfolds tonight. A host of Eastern Ohio prep football teams begin their respective quests for that elusive brass ring we know as state champion. The road is rocky and long, but is one every team hopes to navigate. This year, our coverage area is blessed with Week 11 quantity and quality. In Division VI, Bridgeport and Shadyside will carry the local banner. The Bulldogs of Rudy Vavrock have possessed a painful bite for its opposition this year, compiling a splendid 9-1 ledger. The Dogs also get to host their first-ever playoff game. The resilient Tigers of rookie head coach Mark Holenka, meanwhile, rebounded from a slow start to finish strong down the stretch to gain a playoff berth which the Orange & Black have grown accustomed. A division higher, Monroe Central champions the local cause. Legendary coach Jay Circosta has guided his powerful squad to a 9-1 mark, capturing the OVAC and PVC titles along the way.
