He’s put up some mesmerizing numbers this fall has West Liberty University’s extraordinary young gunslinger Zach Amedro. Over 4,000 yards and 41 touchdown passes sound like one mighty fine career to me. Then, I’m reminded Amedro has achieved all this over the course of a single, 11-game season, which, by the way, remains ongoing. Amedro and his Hilltopper teammates are involved in a history-making process which continues Saturday afternoon at Russek Field. That’s where 10-1 West Liberty entertains 9-3 Edinboro (Pa.) in a Division II Super Region 1 semifinal clash. Kickoff is at high noon. And rightfully so. It’s likely impossible to over-hype what figures to be a potential shootout between two formidable teams led by high caliber quarterbacks. While Edinboro’s Trevor Harris is a big-time talent in his own right, Amedro’s 2009 accomplishments are virtually off the chart.
