Defense will be big for Bethany
By MIKE HUGHES
Times Leader Sports Writer
Despite returning eight starters from an high-scoring offense that set single-season marks for points scored and passing yards, the Bethany Bison football team was picked to finish sixth in the Presidents’ Athletic Conference.
Coach Tim Weaver, who’s embarking on his fourth year at the helm, wasn’t surprised. In his estimation, his team hasn’t earned the right to be included in the same conversation with the likes of Washington & Jefferson and conference newcomer and defending champ, Thomas More.
“While we were close, until we win those games we didn’t win, Bethany won’t be a program anyone in the PAC is going to associate with as successful,” Weaver said. “Outside of Chris Smith at Grove City, no one in the conference as ever seen Bethany be a good tea.
