Dear Editor, School levy, again? Well, the thought of a school levy is being proposed for the seventh time....

Great idea, LetItBe!! The Alumni Association should set up a fund for the school system. Hmm...

Has the school district given consideration to asking alumni for pledges over the next 3 – 5 years? If so many alumni want to help the district then maybe it’s time for them to “buck up”. Quit expecting John Q. Public to bail the district out of their financial woes. Those who are committed to the cause should be willing to pledge on a monthly or quarterly basis over the next few years. Do not expect people without any ties to the school to be willing to fund this levy when money is tight for so many people within the district. I will continue to vote NO!

I hear you, Wayne Amos. I haven’t voted for it yet nor do I intend to do so. I live within my means and the school district needs to do the same. Quit harassing the public.
I have to agree with everything Wayne said in his letter. As an alumnus of Bellaire High School, I sincerely hope a levy is passed and current and future students have every educational benefit available. However, I don't feel I have the right to say whether or not residents of the district should or should not pass the levy because I live way out of the area (Kansas). I also don't feel it was right for the St. C resident to look into someone's taxes and make a judgement according to public records. Yes, it's public knowledge, but was he or she to take it upon themselves to do that?? I understand where she's coming from, but I can't condone what she did to make her point. I do wish the school district the very best because they have the very best teachers!! Good luck, Big Reds!!
