I don't know how you could NOT know what's going on; it's been advertised several places.. on television, on the radio, billboards, and fair tabs and brochures were left in stores all over the county. And that's part of the problem, Ohiodem, a lot of people assuming a lot of things about the finances of the board and this assumption that they have gotten a ton of money from gas and oil rights.. they have not received any money for gas and oil at this time. A deal is in the works, but again, they have not received any money yet and even then it's not going to be enough to do everything the board would like to do with the grounds. It would be amazing to see all you sideline critics out there busting your butts to make things better, but of course that rarely happens. Please do not cast stones if you're not willing to do something to make it better. Please, come out and spend just one week, shoot one day for that matter in the weeks, months leading up to the fair, with the board members

Agreed the parking is better. I tried to see the demolition derby and the rodeo and couldn't get a seat or even a place to stand were you can see anything. When it rains and it almost always rains during the fair the place is quagmire. I will not go this year, it will be the first time in probably 30 years. As far as money hasn't the county received lots of money from selling gas rights on county property?

What's disappointing is that some people don't appreciate all the hard work that has been put into the fairgrounds in just 4 short years to have what we do have. Belmont County is way beyond new fairgrounds in the past that had tents for years to house livestock while they were in the building process. It all takes time and MONEY. The board is always open to accepting help to make the grounds even better. Volunteer your time and come out to the grounds in the off season to help make things better; if you're unable to do that, they're always seeking sponsors and donations to make the big projects, like a grandstands, possible. This is not a snap your fingers and things will appear world, come back to reality, appreciate the fact that there is even a fair given the circumstances (building EVERYTHING from ground up)of the move and appreciate those who dedicated and sacrificed their time, money, & time with their own families to ensure your kids, grandkids, etc have this experience.

The new location is a real disappointment. A couple highlights of the fair I always looked forward to was the chicken dinners at the Ruratan building and Colemans fish at the Thoburn Methadist Church stand, both are gone. There is no grandstand now just a few temparary bleachers, can't get a seat unless you come an hour early. When it rains it's a mud hole. The last couple years I went to the fair one evening and was out of there in less that an hour.
