I would also love to tell my neighbours in Jefferson County about all the stress your free garbage disposal has caused us. I'd love to tell you about the lawyers who wouldn't help me recover damages, not because I don't have a claim but because there isn't enough money in it for them or they know all the officials who did nothing about this HUGE dump for years. I sincerely and from the heart hope that when the first person is caught dumping in Belmont county, the punishment is extremely severe.

I still haven't gotten my property straightened out yet. The rush of water that struck us twice moved top soil, caused sidewalks to move and actually changed the natural drainage of the yard. I had to remove a basement window that was cracked by debris in the water. The water by the way actually surrounded all four sides of the house. Can you imagine a river running on all four sides of your house? It wasn't fun and it never should have happened. Those people who think it's OK to dump their trash wherever they want should rethink what they are doing. THe illegal dump I am talking about here has been operating for many, many years and nobody, nobody reported this dump! I wish the N-R would allow photos in the comments section. I would love to show my neighbours out here in Jefferson County exactly what your illegal dumping did to my family and my property.
200 dumps in one county is outrageous. I can personally testify to how much damage illegal dumping can cause. My home was flooded twice this year because illegally dumped trash clogged a stream and culverts, sending storm water out of the stream, down the side of the road, across my yard and into my house. Twice! A simple email to the Jefferson County Health Department got the ball rolling as far as cleaning up. The person that owns the property was held responsible and given a period of time to get it cleaned up. When that time expired, the clean up was half done and it was reported that 400 tons of garbage, tire, construction debris and other materials had been removed. The cost to the property owner to date? $25,000.00
