WHEELING Area EMS Personnel were honored at the Annual Pre-Hospital Christmas Party, held recently at the Nurses Residence at Ohio Valley Medical Center.
"Our goal is just to say 'thank you' to the Pre-Hospital and EMS Providers for their dedication to patient care and their continued support of OVMC and East Ohio Regional Hospital throughout the year," said Staci Trudo, Director of Performance Improvement and Trauma Manager at OVMC.
Sponsored by EMSTAR & Trauma Service at OVMC and EORH, the event included dinner, a continuing education presentation entitled "Stress Reduction for EMS Providers", music, casino games and a prize auction.
Also included in the evening's activities was the presentation of awards. The "Star of Life" Award was presented to EMS personnel who successfully resuscitated a patient prior to arrival in EMSTAR for admission. Recipients of the "Star of Life" Award include: McMechen VFD, Wheeling Fire Department, EMT Ambulance, Sherrard VFD, Martins Ferry EMS/Fire Department, Cumberland Trail Fire Department, Colerain Fire Department, and Connie Lilley, a lay person who started CPR prior to the arrival of EMS.
"Gift of Life" Awards were presented to EMS personnel who successfully resuscitated a patient prior to arriving at EMSTAR and the patient was able to be discharged home. Recipients of this award include: Colerain Fire Department, Martins Ferry EMS/Fire Department, Wheeling Fire Department and Wheeling Island Gaming Resort Employees Robin Axe and Michelle Goddard.
