Barnesville scholars announced

THREE STUDENTS from the Barnesville High School were awarded scholarships from the Barnesville Area Education Foundation.

Benjamin H. Burkhart was presented a scholarship from the Bob & Dorothy Van Dyne Scholarship Fund. This is a new scholarship created this year that the Foundation will administer, which provides $1,000 to a Barnesville High graduate who will major in music or business, and is renewable for four years, provided that the student maintains a GPA of 2.5 . He will be attending Marietta College to major in business.

Brandi Kay Bahmer was awarded a scholarship from the Michael and Jane Zunick Scholarship Fund, which is administered by the Barnesville Area Education Foundation. This scholarship is available to any student graduating from a school in Belmont County. This is the 9th year that this program has been active. This scholarship is worth $4,000 per year for four years, provided the student maintains a GPA of 2.5 or better, and majors in a technical field. She will be attending Wheeling Jesuit University and plans to major in biology with a goal of physical therapy.

The third scholarship was presented to Ryan Seneff, and is a part of the Scholarship for Academic Excellence Program. This scholarship is for Barnesville area students only, and the recipient must maintain a GPA of 3.0 or better, and be accepted by the University that he, or she, seeks to attend, prior to applying for the scholarship. He will be attending Duke University, with a major in Linguistics, with a possible career in foreign service.

All of these scholarships are made available through the Barnesville Area Education Foundation through on-going endowments, and are presented each year.
