ST. CLAIRSVILLE — Seven teams of AARP Belmont County Chapter 2994 members participated in the national organization’s National Day of Service on Tuesday, Sept. 14, by visiting local nursing home residents. Chapter members kicked off the service project with a cookout hosted by Heartland-Lansing Care Center in Bridgeport at noon on Sept. 14. Then members dispersed to visit Park Health Center, Cumberland Point, Beacon House and Forest Hill Retirement Community, all in St. Clairsville; Heartland in Bridgeport; Emerald Pointe in Barnesville; and Country Club Retirement Campus in Bellaire. Chapter president Jan Martin took her dog, Carlo, a Canine Good Citizen therapy dog, to say hello to residents. In addition to Martin, members who participated included: team leaders Mary Hirauk, Libby Devine, John and Mary Wodarcyk, Peggy Kuba, Sam and Mary Anderson, Marie Groves and Jackie Gretzinger; and Cindy Radabaugh, Lydia Mick, Pearl Roy, Liz Hepburn, Nancy Dopkiss, Mary Oboy, Dori Dombrowski, Sheila Hughes, Sharon Russell, Barbara Trytko, Eva Delbrugge, Pat Soltis, Carol and Pete Wodarcyk, Lil Plewniak, Ann Worwa, Sue Shallcross, Irene Sturniola, Vera Strope, John and Doris Budinscak, Marjorie and Lawrence Swiger, Kathy Kuba, Summer and Evelyn Truax, Ruth Householder, Jan Sheppard, Nancy Toto, Martha Giffin, Joan Evick, Judi Conaway, Bertha Pickering and Shirley Whaley.
