ST. CLAIRSVILLE - Area job seekers are preparing to flock to the Fifth Annual Ohio Valley Job Fair this Wednesday.
The event, presented by Belmont County Connections, will take place from 1-4 p.m. this Wednesday at the J.B. Martin Center in St. Clairsville, located on the former site of the Belmont County Fair.
This is the fifth installment of the event, which brings scores of employers together with potential employees from the area, all in one location at the same time. The Ohio Valley Job Fair has been a tremendously successful event in past years, and this year's job fair promises to bring great results as well.

So far, more than 50 area businesses and institutions have come on board to participate in the job fair. Each participant will have booths set up inside the J.B. Martin Center, and representatives of each business will be on hand to meet with job seekers.
"This year, we've gotten a really good response from employers, and hopefully we'll get the same kind of response from job seekers," said Mike Schlanz, coordinator at Belmont County Connections' One-Stop Employment and Training Center. "Anybody who is looking for employment is encouraged to come. Even those who are looking to go back to school should come as well, because we will have a number of the area colleges represented at the job fair."
Connections operates under the authority of the Belmont County Department of Job and Family Services. Partners also include the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services, the Community Action Council of Belmont County, Rehabilitation Services Commission, Veterans Service Commission, Belmont Technical College, Mid-East Career & Technology Centers, and the most important partner of all, the local business community.
Job seekers attending the 2011 Ohio Valley Job Fair are encouraged to make a good first impression and dress for success. Those seeking employment should also bring multiple copies of their resumes and be prepared to complete job applications. Attendees are encouraged to know their work history, including dates, phone numbers, references and other pertinent information.
Connections provides many services to businesses and job seekers, including assistance in filling job openings and finding employment for the available workforce in the area. Employers can obtain information in this service and many others by contacting Connections or visiting the Web site at www.belmontcountyconnections.com., which also has a wealth of information for job seekers.
A regularly updated list of businesses and organizations that will be participating in the 2011 Ohio Valley Job Fair this Wednesday is also available on the Web site.
