OWNER?RENEE?FITHEN?invites you to the Positive Image Boutique, located inside Shadyside Pharmacy. The Boutique is hosting an open house Thursday from 11 a.m. until 4 p.m.
The Positive Image Boutique, owned by Rod and Renee Fithen and located inside the Shadyside Pharmacy, is the area's first full-service breast surgery boutique.
The boutique offers a variety of items, including skin care from Lindi care, mastectomy prosthesis and bras, scarves, hats, wigs, clothing and many other items.
Lindi Skin manufactures skin care products that help sooth and alleviate the effects of chemotherapy, radiation and general wear that results from cancer treatments.
For Renee Fithen, it all boiled down to the fact that she saw a need.
''I've had friends that have undergone mastectomy surgery and there just wasn't a full service boutique around here,'' she said.
''We're just trying to make this a little more of a relaxed setting for these women.''
Recovering from mastectomy surgery and need to purchase a specialized bra and prosthetic? They have it.
Going through chemotherapy surgery and would like to purchase a wig without everyone knowing? They have that too.
The Positive Image Boutique has a full line of wigs in numerous styles and colors. And each is custom fitted and ordered to your specifications.
It can all be done away from any prying eyes.
The boutique is located in the back of Shadyside pharmacy, in a comfortable setting complete with couches, multiple dressing/fitting rooms and a extensive vanity.
''It's all in a private setting,'' Fithen said.
The boutique also carries post-surgical garments, plus compression garments for those suffering from edema or recovering from vein surgery.
Fithen said the local hospitals and medical centers have begun recommending her facility because the prosthetics are covered by Medicare and most primary insurance companies.
Women going through menopause will also find line of comfortable sleepwear.
The boutique is open from 10 a.m. until 6 p.m. daily.
Fithen asks that those wishing to shop call ahead for an appointment to make sure someone is available to help with any need that may arise.
Thursday, the boutique is hosting an open house from 11 a.m. until 4 p.m.
The boutique is located at 3948 Central Ave. in Shadyside, the Northbound side of Central.
