CADIZ-Before Clark Gable reigned as King of Hollywood, he had his beginnings in the communities of Cadiz, where he was born, and Hopedale, where he spent his childhood. Devoted fans continue to commemorate his life on and off the silver screen.
On Sept. 23-24 the Clark Gable Foundation will host a celebration to take place at the Cadiz Country Club beginning at 10:30 a.m. The entry fee is $25. Events include a forum and silent auction. The featured speaker will be Gable's grandson, Clark James Gable, who will sign autographs and answer questions about his famous grandfather. Refreshments will be served at 4:30 p.m.
Among other entertainments will be a reading of Captain Racket at 7 p.m. on Sept. 23 at Hopedale's elementary school by the Hope Players. Clark Gable performed in the production when he attended the school. Admission is by donation.
