Home health aide classes offered

ST. CLAIRSVILLE — The Workforce Development and Community Education Department at Belmont Technical College will beoffering Home Health Aide classes for professional and family caregivers. The classes will be held at the Main Campus in St. Clairsville, Ohio. The Home Health Aide course for the professional will be offered October 18 through October 20 from 5:30 - 9:30 p.m. This course will provide training in patient care, basic medical care, emergency response, and housekeeping duties. Students will learn to care for patients by cooking, cleaning, organizing household goods, and assisting with personal hygiene. This course would be a great start for anyone interested in entering the health care field or for current health care providers looking to enhance their professional skill-set. Also offered is a separate Home Health course for family caregivers. This course will be offered October 4 and 5 and again on October 11 and 12 from 5:30 - 9:30 p.m. With the increasing cost of quality health care as well as increases in lifespan, many individuals will face caring for a loved one for extended periods of time. Becoming a caregiver to a family member involves major changes for all concerned: physically, emotionally, socially, and financially. The Home Health Aide course for the family caregiver will outline some of the skills needed to be a caregiver in the home. Students will learn about cooking, cleaning, organizing household goods, and assisting with personal hygiene. This hands-on course will be helpful to anyone currently caring for a family member or who will be in the future.
