Here's some good news for Buckeye fans seeking a cure-all following last week's meltdown in Miami.
Colorado enters Saturday's game attempting to halt a school-record 18-game road losing streak.
The Buffaloes have not earned a win away from Boulder since the 2007 season.
Included in that total is a Oct. 1, 2009 loss at West Virginia where the Buffs were 35-24 victims....
OHIO State owns an all-time 55-26-2 ledger against PAC 10 (12) competition. The Bucks are 3-1 vs. Colorado and spotless against Oregon (8-0); Washington State (8-0); Oregon State (2-0); and Arizona State (2-0).
The Buckeyes are 9-13-1 vs. Southern California....
INDIANA and Minnesota are the Big 10's only teams with sub-.500 records three weeks into the 2011 campaign. Purdue and Northwestern, both 2-1, have open dates this weekend.
Otherwise, here's our projections for the final week of non-conference play:
EASTERN MICHIGAN (2-1) AT PENN STATE (2-1). The last time these two met (1992), Joe Pa was in his prime and Lions were national players.
Sadly, neither holds true today.
Still, Nittany Lions, 30-13.
SAN DIEGO STATE (3-0) AT MICHIGAN (3-0). Aztecs gave UM a mighty scare in the teams' only other meeting in 2004, falling by 24-21.
This one should not duplicate those dramatics.
Wolverines, 33-13.
CENTRAL MICHIGAN (1-2) AT MICHIGAN STATE (2-1). Don't look now but CMU scored a 29-27 stunner two years ago.
Again, no repeat performance here.
Spartans, 35-17.
LOUISIANA-MONROE (1-2) AT IOWA (2-1). Hawkeyes came from way back to nip Pitt last week.
That was then.
Hawkeyes, 37-14.
COLORADO (1-2) AT OHIO STATE (2-1). Expect Buckeyes to regain scoring touch and send Buffs to 19th straight road loss.
Buckeyes, 30-14.
WESTERN MICHIGAN (1-2) AT ILLINOIS (2-1). Would you believe Illini coughed up a 23-17 loss to WMU three seasons ago?
Illini, 30-10.
SOUTH DAKOTA (2-1) AT WISCONSIN (3-0). Badgers in final walkover before Nebraska visits Camp Randall the following week. Badgers, 51-10.
NORTH DAKOTA STATE (2-0) AT MINNESOTA (1-2). Would you believe Gophers coughed up a 27-21 loss to N.D. State four seasons ago?
Gophers, 24-14.
INDIANA (1-2) AT NORTH TEXAS (0-3). Not sure why Hoosiers are traveling to Lone State state for this first-ever meeting. Hoosiers, 28-14.
NEBRASKA (3-0) AT WYOMING (3-0). Not out of the question Huskers will be tested by equally unbeaten Cowpokes.
