The ever-popular, toe-tapping Bluegrass BBQ to benefit the Wheeling Symphony Youth Orchestra will be held Sunday, October 2 from 3-6 p.m. at Oglebay Park's Hess Shelter.
The public is invited to join the fun and enjoy a picnic menu from Charlie Schlegel and Ye Olde Alpha Restaurant.
The event is sponsored by Bachmann Hess Legal Team and Main Street Bank. The seasonal decorations will be donated by Nicky's Garden Center and the fresh produce will be contributed by Jebbia's Market.
Tickets for this fun-filled event are available in advance at the symphony office by calling 304.232-6191 or 800-395-9241 before 5:00 p.m. on September 29. Tickets will also be available at the door. The tickets are $20.00 for adults, $5.00 for students. Children 6 and under are free!
Music will be provided by crowd-pleasers Out of the Blue and Bluegrass Express.
Musicians from the ages of 13 to 22 are eligible to participate in the tuition-free WSYO. As members of the WSYO, young musicians are afforded the opportunity to train and perform together under the auspices of the Wheeling Symphony. Well-known Ohio County Educator Dr. Matthew Inkster from West Liberty State College is the Conductor and Ben Podolski, Ohio County Strings educator, is the Music Director.
The WSYO performs two public concerts annually, as well as for community and civic functions. The next concert is Nov. 29 at 7 p.m. at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church. The WSYO is tuition-free due to the generous support of donors and many fundraising events like this barbecue.
