Believe it or not, there are only 64 shopping days left until Christmas. Aside from the hustle and bustle of holiday buying, the holiday brings warm memories of time spent with family and friends like baking cookies, wrapping gifts and decorating the Christmas tree and the house with holiday lights.
Long gone are the days of stringing popcorn for garland and hanging cookies as ornaments, but I'm willing to bet there are some of you who still like to go that extra mile at Christmas. You bake a few extra dozen cookies. You hang three more boxes of ornaments. You add several rows to your current holiday light set up to make your home just a tad brighter than the Smiths' home next door.
Guess what? YOU are the people we are looking for! The Times Leader is happy to announce our second annual Holiday Sparkle contest which will showcase holiday light displays in the area. We invite you to send us your best decorated Christmas tree and decorated house (outside) photos.
Are you a huge Buckeyes fan? Then send us a photo of your Ohio State themed tree! Love NASCAR so much you decorated your tree in it? We want to see it! Do you think your home is the prettiest on the block? Send us a photo of it all lit up! Whatever your decorating style, we want to see it.
Now here's the fun part: the first 16 house photos and the first 16 Christmas tree photos will be published in Holiday Sparkle, a special section of the Times Leader, on Sunday, Dec. 18. We must receive your photos by Dec. 9. But you need to hurry! We will ONLY publish the first sixteen photos we receive of each, so it pays to decorate early!
Please send your best photo with information including your name, address and a phone number where we can reach you during the day should we have any questions to sdunder@ timesleaderonline.com. You can also mail or drop off your photo in person to Holiday Sparkle, c/o The Times Leader, 200 South 4th Street, Martins Ferry, Ohio, 43935.
But remember-we're only publishing the first 16 pictures we get in each category. So maybe it's not too soon to dust off Santa from the attic and shine up Rudolph's reins. Share your holiday spirit with the rest of the area and give everyone's holiday a little extra sparkle!
