It’s not too early to have holiday spirit

November 13, 2011
Shaunna Dunder - Lifestyles Editor (sdunder@timesleaderonline.com) , Times Leader

Even though the calendar says November, I've seen more than my fair share of Christmas commercials. Oh well, there are only 42 shopping days left until Christmas, and about two and a half weeks until Black Friday, so it makes sense that advertisers are getting a head start.

But what about you? How early is too early for you to bust out the ornaments, tinsel, Santa figurines and icicle lights? Have you been gazing longingly at your Christmas tree box in storage, counting down the seconds until you can pull it out and begin decorating?

In the spirit of you folks who just can't get enough Christmas, the Times Leader is having its second annual Holiday Sparkle contest that showcases holiday light displays in the area. Send us your best decorated Christmas tree and decorated house (outside) photos. The first 16 house photos and the first 16 Christmas tree photos will be published in Holiday Sparkle, a special section of the Times Leader, on Sunday, Dec. 18.We will ONLY publish the first 16 photos we receive of each, so it pays to think like the advertisers and get your holiday started now!

And here's a little more incentive: For the lucky people who submit the first 16 photos in each category, they will receive either a $15 Perkins gift card or a $15 gift card to the Imperial Teachers Store. Wow! All that just for decorating early and sending us your photos!

Send us your best photo, and please include your name, address and a phone number where we can reach you during the day should we have any questions to sdunder@ timesleaderonline.com. You can also mail or drop off your photo in person to Holiday Sparkle, c/o The Times Leader, 200 South 4th St., Martins Ferry, Ohio, 43935.

But remember-we're only publishing the first 16 pictures we get in each category, so you'd better grab that Christmas tree box and get busy!
