Sparkle is defined by the good people at dictionary.com as "brilliant, lively and vivacious." I really can't think of better adjectives to describe the holiday season.
While most of us had Thanksgiving prep on our mind this past week, I think we can now all agree that, with Black Friday already in the books, we are officially knee-deep in the holiday season-like it or not.
That said, I'm quite certain that most of you have at least thought about getting your holiday decorations out. Many of you probably have them already on display. Perhaps this year, your tree has more sparkle than it ever had before. Maybe your home, with that extra row of icicle lights, gives off an even brighter gleam than in years past. If you feel your decorations are beyond perfect this year (or even if you just think they're pretty!), then we want you to submit a photo of your lovely holiday decor.
The Times Leader is having its second annual Holiday Sparkle contest that showcases holiday light displays in the area. Send us your best decorated Christmas tree and decorated house (outside) photos. The first 16 house photos and the first 16 Christmas tree photos will be published in Holiday Sparkle, a special section of the Times Leader, on Sunday, Dec. 18. We will ONLY publish the first 16 photos we receive of each, so send in your photo now!
And just to sweeten the deal, the folks who submit the first 16 photos in each category will receive either a $15 Perkins gift card or a $15 gift card to the Imperial Teachers Store. That's right! A $15 gift card just for sending us a picture! Talk about your generous holiday spirit.
So what are you waiting for? Send us your best photo, and please include your name, address and a phone number where we can reach you during the day should we have any questions. You can email your photo to sdunder @timesleaderonline.com or mail or drop off your photo in person to Holiday Sparkle, c/o The Times Leader, 200 South 4th Street, Martins Ferry, Ohio, 43935.
But remember-we're only publishing the first 16 pictures we get in each category. Better get "lively" like the definition of sparkle says and get those pictures in to us. We can't wait to see them!
