ST. CLAIRSVILLE - Dr. Rebecca Fabry and the St. Clairsville Chiropractic Clinic have been busy straightening out patients and getting involved in community events, as well.

This past Thursday, the longtime local business officially joined the St. Clairsville Area Chamber of Commerce. Local dignitaries and chamber representatives joined Fabry, friends and family, and the clinic's staff for a ribbon cutting ceremony to welcome the business to the chamber of commerce.

Fabry took the helm at the St. Clairsville Chiropractic Clinic last year following the retirement of Dr. David A. Smith, who served local patients for 37 years.

THE ST. CLAIRSVILLE Area Chamber of Commerce on Thursday welcomed its newest member, the St. Clairsville Chiropractic Clinic, to the chamber. Dr. Rebecca Fabry took over the clinic last year after Dr. David A. Smith retired after serving patients for 37 years.

Over the past year, Fabry has not only served the clinic's longtime patients and welcomed new ones as well, she has also taken steps to get the business more involved with community events. This year, the St. Clairsville Chiropractic Clinic participated in the St. Clairsville Sunrise Rotary Club's annual Samuel A. Mumley Memorial Classic 5K Run/Walk and the chamber's annual Holidays on the Hilltop Christmas Parade.

In a way, the community involvement goes hand-in-hand with the clinic's customized care for patients of all ages who come through the door every day.

"We think of our office as being more of a family-type setting," said Fabry. "We're very family-oriented and we want to take time to look at each patient's individual needs."

The clinic truly serves patients of all ages, from children to seniors who would benefit from a simple adjustment to more advanced chiropractic care.

"The nervous system controls all aspects of the body," said Fabry, noting that through adjustments performed by a professional chiropractor, patients can take eliminate interruptions in the nervous system that can impede mobility and optimum health. "It's very important for overall wellness."

For those who have considered it but have never sought chiropractic care, the key is to ask questions, Fabry noted. The St. Clairsville Chiropractic Clinic provides free consultations and works will all new patients on treatment options.

Most health insurance companies cover chiropractic treatments, and the St. Clairsville Chiropractic Clinic also accepts Medicare, which has been a new option for patients since Fabry took the helm at the business over the past year.

Originally from Bellaire, Fabry performed her undergraduate work at The Ohio State University and earned her doctorate from the Logan College of Chiropractic near St. Louis, Mo. She worked for chiropractic offices previously, but ultimately wanted to have her own practice. Good timing and good fortune help lead Fabry to Dr. Smith just prior to his retirement, and the transition has resulted in a great step forward through 2011.

Staff members Monica Brown and Sharon Hodorowski, who worked with Dr. Smith, stayed on board when Fabry took over.

Dr. Fabry now resides in Shadyside with her husband, Josh.

The St. Clairsville Chiropractic Clinic is located at 161 S. Sugar St. in St. Clairsville. Office hours are 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays; and 8 a.m. to noon on Tuesdays and Saturdays by appointment. The office is closed on Thursdays.
