MARTINS FERRY -Martins Ferry native Linda Sadowski has some pretty big shoes to fill.
Tuesday she assumed the role of the director of the Martins Ferry Senior Center.
Lori Bittengle, who oversees the operation of nine senior centers throughout Belmont County for the Department of Job & Family Services, explained that Lois Kwiatkowski retired recently.
LINDA?SADOWSKI, a longtime nutrition driver in Belmont County for both the Belmont County Department of Job &?Family Services as well as Belmont Senior Services, was named the new director of the Martins Ferry Senior Center after former and longtime director Lois Kwiatkowski retired recently.
Kwiatkowski, who served as the center's director for 16 years, returned to the position in June of 2010 after then director Sandy Milovac took a leave of absence.
When Kwiatkowski took over, the center was still housed in the Laslo Apartments before moving to its current location on S. 5th St.
Now Sadowski will likely be in charge when the center makes its eventual shift to the former South School property in town.
As to when that will happen, neither Bittengle nor Sadowski, had an answer.
"The seniors have been asking and all we can tell them is that when it's ready, they'll let us know and then we'll let them know,'' Bittengle said.
Sadowski previously worked as a nutrition driver, both with Job and Family Services and also the previous entitiy in charge, Belmont Senior Services. She's began working for BSS in 1995.
