WHEELING - Oglebay Institute's Stifel Fine Arts Center is celebrating St. Patrick's Day with an Art and Ale beer tasting event at 6:30 p.m. Saturday, March 17, which features Irish-inspired food from Ye Olde Alpha, live music and, of course, plenty of Irish ale.

Several breweries and varieties of beers will be presented in the mix-and-mingle atmosphere of the 100-year-old Stifel Mansion as guests enjoy live music provided by Uncle Eddie & Robin.

"We won't have any green beer, but there will be plenty of black, tan and red lagers and ales," said Stifel Center Director Rick Morgan. "All of the beers are Irish beers, but a variety of styles are represented. We wanted to have a selection that included something for everyone to enjoy whether they like dark lagers or classic Irish pale ales."

Selections for the evening include Guinness Black Lager, Guinness Draught, Killian's Irish Red, Harp Lager, Conway's Irish Ale and Harpoon Celtic Ale.

During the event, guests can listen to live music, socialize with other guests and browse the annual Crosscurrents art exhibition on display n the Hart Galleries, which features dozens of works in a variety of artistic styles and mediums.

Tickets are $35. Members of Oglebay Institute receive a discount. Reservations are required and can be made by calling the Stifel Center at 304-242-7700. Most events sell out so early registration is recommended.
