National Day of Prayer

April 24, 2012
Times Leader

Dear?Editor:

The 61st annual observance of the National Day of Prayer will take place on Thursday, May 3rd, and the theme is "One Nation Under God." This was inspired by Psalm 33:12, which states, "Blessed is the Nation whose God is the Lord". A powerful outpouring of prayer in repentance, praise and intercession across the nation is anticipated. The American people continue to be plagued with challenges that defy simple answers, and our hope lies in humbly seeking the Almighty's forgiveness, guidance, protection and blessing.

Again this year, the Belmont County NDP task force is planning a 90-Hour Bible Reading Marathon to be held at the Belmont Co. Courthouse Plaza. It will begin on Sunday, April 29th at 4 pm. The entire Bible will be read for 90 hours around the clock leading up to the National Day of Prayer on May 3rd. Over 300 people which include city officials, churches, schools and prisoners (on tape), as well as other organizations throughout the county, have signed up to be readers, under the direction of Kathy Fuller, BRM Coordinator (740-526-1120). If you have not signed up, you still are welcome to be present to listen to the spoken Words of the Lord.

This will be the 20th year that NDP Observances have officially been held in Belmont County. Observances are planned in Barnesville, Bethesda, Bellaire, Bridgeport, Flushing, Martins Ferry, Powhatan Point, Shadyside and St. Clairsville. We hope that you will consider attending one of these nine observances on Thursday, May 3, 2012. Contact your local church for details or the Belmont Co. NDP Task Force at 740-695-1734.

Remember, prayer brings us into the presence of Almighty God. In times of trial, prosperity and when we don't know where to turn, He is the answer. He is faithful to bless those who turn to Him.
