HUGHES, Betty Jean, 81, Jefferson Street, Tiltonsville, OH, died Saturday, April 28, 2012 in Rosewood Manor, in Yorkville, OH.
She was born May 14, 1930 in Martins Ferry, OH, daughter of the late Hugh M. and Josephine Hull Stanton.
She was a retired 43-year employee of Wheeling Pittsburgh Steel Corp., Yorkville Plant, in the clerical department.
She was a member of the Tiltonsville United Methodist Church.
Betty Jean was valedictorian of her graduating class of 1948 from the former Warren Consolidated High School, in Tiltonsville, OH.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, of 32 years, Alfred Nelson Hughes; a son, Randy Hughes; and two sisters, Sadie Jones and Eleanor Raimonde.
She is survived by two sons, Bradley (Charlene) Hughes of Rayland, Ohio, and Scott (Rene') Hughes of Belmont, OH; two daughters, Kathie (John) Neavin of Rayland, OH, and Jodee (Scott) Berry of Union, Ky.; a sister, Jule Ann (Don) Lazasz of Rayland, OH; 11 grandchildren, Chris (Dana,) Craig, and Allison Neavin, Bradley and Alexa Hughes, Ryan, Jacob and Rachel Hughes, Steven, Brock and Brooke Berry; and four great-grandchildren, Taylor, Corey, and Madison Neavin, and Kynnedy Rine Friends will be received to pay tribute to Betty Jean and celebrate her life Tuesday from 2-8 p.m. at the Borkoski Funeral Home, Tiltonsville, OH.
Funeral service will be conducted Wednesday at 11 a.m. at the funeral home with the Rev. Tom Thomas officiating.
Burial will follow at Holly Memorial Gardens, Pleasant Grove, OH.
