Tim Zdanski

August 6, 2012
Times Leader

Dear Editor,

On Thursday, July 26, 2012, the village of Bethesda lost the very best friend it ever had or ever will have in Tim Zdanski. Tim was my police chief when I was the mayor starting in the year 2000, also he was my next door neighbor since 1998.

I know very well, first hand, the love and dedication he had for the village. Tim loved his job in protecting the residents and in later years as the village administrator, 37 years worth.

When I was the mayor, Tim always was there to help me with any problems that came up. We sometimes came up with different ideas about things but we always had a laugh or two afterwards. Tim was very smart about the village business and sometimes he had an answer before we had the question. The years I was the mayor, I really enjoyed working with him and in those years we had a very sucessful police department and a very safe village.

By being his neighbor I got to know the personal side of Tim as well as the professional side. Tim was a caring, loving man. He also loved children enough to provide a way to protect them with the sexual predator program. Tim knew a lot of people but a lot of people didn't know Tim and only got to see his professional side and missed out on the man he really was. Tim was a friend to so many others it would be difficult to count them. I am sure we will miss Tim and all the things he did for the village. Sometimes he put the village problems ahead of his own and took care of them first. I just can't see anyone else coming along anytime soon that would have the love and caring Tim had for the little town he called home.

Very respectfully,

Former Bethesda

Mayor Bob Flanagan
