THE UNDERPASS at Big Rush Run was buried during the early stages of the Ohio 7 relocation in southern Jefferson County. When the underpass existed, young people in that area used to flag traffic through it because the way it was constructed created a visibility problem for motorists. Drivers would toss coins to them and sometimes, if the flaggers were lucky, they might be given a dollar bill - this was especially true when a bus transporting people between Steubenville and Wheeling Downs had winners returning home.
