Towers Removed from Children's Home

September 21, 2012
Times Leader

ORNATE TURRETS or towers were removed from the Belmont County Children's Home at Tacoma during the 1950s. Constructed in 1880, the building was razed in 1990. Reportedly, the site along Ohio 147 at Tacoma near Barnesville was selected as the location for the home because its high elevation minimized the danger of malaria. Photo Courtesy/ Nancy Toto
