Barnesville netters sweep tri

Barnesville captured a triangular high school volleyball match Thursday night, defeating host Bridgeport and Martins Ferry.

The Shamrocks defeated the Bulldogs 25-16 and 25-11 as Kelsey Douglass had 13 points, three kills, three blocks and four digs. Paige Gibbons added three points and 10 assists, while Raquel Bahmer had four kills and three blocks. Marissa Burga chipped in seven points, three kills and three digs.

For Bridgeport, Emily Nowakowski scored six points and charted 18 assists. Cheyenne Flowers added six kills and seven digs, while Kaitlyn Benda had two points, five kills and six digs. Hannah Lewis charted 17 digs.

Barnesville also swept Martins Ferry by scores of 25-17 and 25-18.

For Barnesville, Paige Huntsman led the way with six points, four kills, 12 assists, two blocks and three digs. Sydney Bruce added six points and five digs. Gibbons chipped in three points, 10 assists and two digs. Miranda Plumly had four kills and two digs.

Shaina Oberdick led the Purple Riders with four points and three kills. Lauren bennett added nine digs and three points, while Shaye DeLeonardis added six digs, four assists and two points.

Martins Ferry beat Bridgeport in three games, 25-17, 12-25 and 26-24.

For Bridgeport, Nowakowski had five points, two kills and 25 assists. Briana Massey added eight points, eight kills and two digs. Benda had six kills and four digs. Flowers added five and six digs.

Bennett had 14 digs and two points. Oberdick added nine kills, seven points and two blocks. Cassie Hanson chipped in nine assists, five kills and five digs. Jessie Probst contributed seven points and two kills. Morgan Carpenter charted five points, three assists, three kills and two digs.

At Connorville, the Jets won by scores of 25-18, 23-25, 25-18 and 25-14.

Carly Schafer had 24 assists and 23 digs for the winners. She also scored 10 points and dded four kills. Shayla otto had 27 points, nine digs and seven blocks.

Kayla Fillipovich had 13 points for the Panthers, while becca Rector had nine and Amy Balk eight.

Shenandoah d. River

25-19, 25-17, 25-9

Morgan Diehl had 16 points, 11 kills, eight aces and six digs as Shenandoah beat River in straight sets. Kasey King added eight points, 10 assists and seven digs for the Zeps, while Jessie Long contributed 5 points, 13 assists, three aces and seven digs.

Pacing the Pilots was Annie Turner with nine points, 14 assists and eight digs.

Monica Curtis checked in with 11 points, five aces and 11 digs.
