The widely known Wells Township Haunted house opened this past weekend for it's first of five weekends. The nationally known and #1 voted haunted house in Ohio, Kentucky, and Indiana features an array of elements in the building used just for this purpose.
The building which was built in 1836 is located just off of Route 7 near Brilliant, OH, and a short distance from the Ohio River. During the Civil War, bodies of fallen soldiers would be stored here awaiting transport via train and barge.
It's estimated thousands of bodies have passed through the structure throughout those years. The building later became a General Store, a furniture store, as well as heating and cooling business later on. Workers from each of these establishments repeatedly told stories of sounds and paranormal-like activity.
Each fall for a few weekends of the year, visitors from all over the Tri-State area flock to the the attractions which boasts a complete haunted atmosphere including a guided tour with featuring live workers throughout the experience. As always, the staff have worked hard since last fall upgrading various aspects, making it something people can come back to year after year and have just as much fun as the first visit.
The Wells Township Haunted House will be open this weekend on Friday and Saturday, with the final three weekends being open an additional Thursday too. Tours start at 7 p.m. and ending most nights around 10 p.m. Tickets will be sold until closing time.
