Barnesville and Frontier advanced out of the Division IV Sectional Volleyball Tournament at Barnesville High School Saturday.
The Shamrocks swept River, 25-21, 25-19 and 25-16 to earn a berth in the Buckeye Trail District Tournament Tuesday against Garaway at 6 p.m.
"We started off a little slow, but once we got into a rhythm we played better," said Barnesville veteran head coach Nikki McEndree. "We did a much better job of passing."

River head coach Jim Turner complimented his opponents. "I thought Barnesville covered the floor well tonight.
"I am very proud of our players, I thought we also played extremely well," Turner added. "We have three freshman and four sophomores, both our middle hitters are freshmen, we are young and look to be better next season."
Jensen Caretti and Brielle Williams paced the Pilots at the net. Caretti posted 9 deadly spikes blocking 15 while Williams finished with 9 kills and 3 blocks. Annie Turenr notched 4 kills, 3 blocks, 23 assists and 8 digs. Hannah Jones was dominant in the back court with 18 digs for the Pilots who close their season ledger at 10-12.
Barnesville was led by Miranda Plumly with 11 kills, one block and 4 digs. Marrissa Burga notched 8 kills, one block with 7 digs. Paige Gibbons set 15 assists and dug up 14 adding 6 kills while Paige Huntsman added 11 assists, 14 digs with 5 kills for the Shamrocks as they improve to 19-5.
"The biggest thing about the win today that it was a total team effort," McEndree added as she prepares to face the Pirates. Garaway beat Malvern 25-19, 25-19, 25-13 to pick up the upper-bracket Division IV sectional volleyball title at Dover.
"I really do not know much about Garaway other than they have a quality program and some good athletes."
In the second match, it was Frontier advancing over Beallsville in straight sets 25-9, 25-16 and 25-13.
The Blue Devils Anna Jones contributed 11 assist and 2 digs. Katey Kinney notched 5 kills, Madison Stephen 4 kills with 2 digs, Maegan Atkinson added 4 deadly spikes while Laikyn Tubaugh had 3 kills and a pair of blocks. Beallsville finishes their season with a 13-11 record.
