ST. CLAIRSVILLE - The Cumberland Trail Fire District station now has a new sign on display thanks to local efforts and the Cumberland Trail Firefighters Association.
Curtis Kyer. lieutenant/paramedic at Cumberland Trail Fire District and president of the firefighters association said the original sign was put in approximately 1980 by the St. Clairsville Ruritan to benefit community improvement projects. Bruce Henderson took care of the sign since its installation, but at the beginning of 2012 decided he would be stepping down.
"Mr. Henderson offered to turn the sign over to the firefighters association as a way to raise funds for that organization and we accepted," said Kyer, noting the group's mission to provide equipment for firefighters.

"The Cumberland Trail Firefighters Association is an organization within the fire department that's purpose is to provide the necessities for on duty personnel like furniture and kitchen utensils, assisting the fire district in operating expenses. In addition to that we also support the Dick Heagan Scholarship and make yearly donations to Belmont County Job and Family Services, Children's Services Division."
Building the new sign was a joint effort by the fire district and the firefighters association.
The brick foundation was built by Funkouser Brothers Construction and the marquee was installed by Logotek Signs.
The sign can be rented three days for $15 or six days for $25. Anyone interested can contact the fire station at (740) 695-5147
