Treats in the Park Success

November 2, 2012
Times Leader

Dear?Editor:

I would like to take time to thank everyone who helped to make our "Trick or Treat in the Park" a huge success. The major work force included the members of the city administration, city council members and their wives, the Martins Ferry Police Department, The Martins Ferry Fire Department and the Martins Ferry Emergency Squad. The major sponsors of the event included Jim Totterdale, John Ayers and Doug and Stacey Longenette. The success of this event was due to all of the hard work put forth by our volunteers, sponsors, businesses and the hard work of our chair person sergeant Beth Scales of the Martins Ferry Police Department.

Thank you to all of the businesses and sponsors that donated food, supplies, money and candy for the event as well as all of the businesses that showed up at the recreation center to pass out candy. Thank you to the Alert Engine Co. #1, Vigilant Engine Co. # 2, Liberty Engine Co. #3, Ladder Co. # 1, Heavenly Harvest, Ebbert's Farm Market, Walmart, Naylor Bros. Gas and Go, Keller Funeral Home, Pocahontas Waneta Council 51, Nickles Bakery, Lowes, Jacob & Son's Meats, East Ohio Regional Hospital, Martins Ferry Chamber of Commerce, Medico Home Health Care, Snack Bros., United Dairy, Wendy's, McDonalds, Ohio River Valley Elks Lodge, Citizens Bank, Martins Ferry High School students, Mitch Collective, Butch Sarratore, Keith Sommer, Laurie Labishak, Tiffany Schleve, Dick Flanagan, Robert and Mignonne Fry, Bruce and Barbara Shrodes, Donald and Joann Danver, John Holmes, Jerry Echemann, Pricilla Duff, Samantha Suto, Tom Siburt, Tiffany McFarland, Husek Floor Coverings, Ferry Hardware, Shutlers, Times Leader, Hanover Fuel Stop, Totterdale's, Zontini's Pizza, Staffilino's, Carolina Furniture, Sudsy's Auto Spa, Griffiths Pharmacy, Martins Ferry Dairy Queen, James Dawes Co., Kroger's, Quality Motor Cars by Butch Miller, Economy Auto Sales, Martins Ferry Carryout, Citizens Bank.

In today's tough economic times we realize that the same businesses continue to be bombarded with requests for donations from every organization in the valley, so we really appreciate the support and sponsors that helped to make this event special. One of this administration's goals is to use our beautiful city park and recreational facilities more often by involving the families, children and business's of Martins Ferry to gather together to create a safe environment while strengthening our community pride. Thank you to all of you for your support, dedication and pride in our community because together we can make a difference.

Sincerely,

Paul Riethmiller

Mayor
