November 8, 2012
Times Leader

A SLIP, including a boulder estimated to weigh 600 tons and measuring 14 feet around and 45 feet long along with other debris, occurred in March of 1980 between Powhatan Point and Shadyside. Six years prior to the slip, Powhatan Mayor Inez Wright initiated a bumper sticker campaign with the stickers noting, "Pray For Us, We Travel Rt. 7."
