Coffland, Lucas, Costine win Belmont races

Belmont County Commissioner Matt Coffland retained his spot on the county commission, defeating challengers Jerry Echemann and Doug Longenette.

Unofficially, Coffland totaled 12,529 votes while Echemann came in second with 9,208 and Longenette third with 7,628.

In the two-man sheriff's race, Dave Lucas, a longtime veteran of the department, edged Dick Flanagan. Lucas totaled 16,508 votes while Flanagan had 13,895.

Eric Costine garnered nearly 27 percent of the vote in the six-person race for Western Division Court judge. Kevin Flanagan came in second with 6,190 votes to Costine's 7,673.

Helen Yonak had 4,503 votes, Charles H. Bean had 4,464 and Todd Kildow 3,784. William Thomas had 2,652.
