TOMER, Robert George, 66, a resident of Lorain, OH, passed away unexpectedly Sunday, October 21, 2012, while vacationing with his family in southern Ohio.
He was born on August 30, 1946 in Wheeling, WV, to the late Roscoe Tomer and Helen Novak Tomer.
He was raised in Flushing, graduating from Flushing High School in 1964. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving during the Vietnam era.
He moved to Lorain in 1968 to work at the Lorain Ford Assembly Plant, and later retired from the Avon Lake Ohio Truck Plant.
George was a Homing Pigeon Racer for many years. He was passionate about Ford Muscle cars and owned and wrecked many Ford Mustangs through his lifetime. He followed all Cleveland sporting teams no matter how bad they were. He loved spending time with his children and grandchildren. He was the best Pap ever!
He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Estherene "Essy" Tomer; two daughters, four granddaughters, four siblings; numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family.
Friends will be received at Warren Funeral Home, Flushing, on Saturday, November 10, 2012, from 1 p.m. until time of Memorial Service at 3 p.m. Flushing American Legion Post 366 will provide military services immediately following the service at the funeral home. Also included will be a Homing Pigeon release.
