Three indicted in child porn case

CADIZ - The Harrison County Grand Jury indicted three Cadiz residents Wednesday for allegedly operating a child pornography ring and related-sex crimes. The accused face more than 40 felony charges, including rape, complicity to rape, and pandering obscene material. Convictions carry life sentences.

Christina Reed, 33, 583 East Market St., Cadiz, has been charged with rape of a victim younger than 10, a felony of the first degree; gross sexual imposition, a felony of the third degree; two counts child endangering, a felony of the second degree; two counts pandering obscenity involving a minor, a felony of the second degree; and two counts illegal use of a minor in nudity oriented material or performance, a felony of the second degree.

Chad Tyler, 29, 413 St. Clair Ave., Cadiz, has been charged with seven counts complicity to child endangering, a felony of the second degree; nine counts complicity to pandering obscenity involving a minor, a felony of the second degree; seven counts pandering obscenity involving a minor, a felony of the fourth degree; one count pandering obscenity, a felony of the fifth degree; seven counts of complicity to illegal use of a minor in nudity oriented material or performance, a felony of the second degree; seven counts illegal use of a minor in nudity oriented material or performance, a felony of the fifth degree; two counts complicity to rape of a child younger than 10, a felony of the first degree; and two counts complicity to gross sexual imposition, a felony of the third degree.

Jessica Manbeck, 36, 351 St. Clair Ave., Cadiz, has been charged with rape of a victim younger than 10, a felony of the first degree; gross sexual imposition, a felony of the third degree; two counts child endangering, a felony of the second degree; five counts pandering obscenity involving a minor, a felony of the second degree; one count pandering obscenity, a felony of the fifth degree; five counts illegal use of a minor in nudity oriented material or performance, a felony of the second degree; and three counts child endangering, a felony of the second degree.

Harrison County Prosecutor Shawn Hervey confirmed that about seven children were involved, from 20 months to nine years old. The crimes involved three separate sets of child victims with the earliest occurrence in January and the most recent in October. He said it is not yet known how widely the material has been disseminated.

"It's the most disturbing, sick and twisted case I've seen in the last 16 years," he said, noting the possible long-term damage to the children.

The case remains under investigation.

The accused will be in court for arraignment Nov. 19. Tyler will have his hearing at 1:30 p.m., Manbeck at 2 p.m. and Reed at 2:30 p.m.
