Blaze battled in Barton

January 2, 2013
dsp Times Leader
UNITS FROM the Barton and Colerain volunteer fire departments responded to a blaze around 10 a.m. Tuesday at 52110 Home St., in Barton. Barton VFD Chief Kirk Smolenak credited fire fighters in doing an excellent job in pushing the fire out the back door. He said there was damage to the kitchen area but not much water damage. The house was occupied by one man who was able to get out of the house without injury. Smolenak said it is suspected that a kerosene heater is the cause of the blaze. An inspector from the Ohio Fire Marshal’s Office will view the house sometime today. Fire crews spent about two hours at the the scene. The Salvation Army canteen was also present.
