ROTH, Richard R., 89, of Martins Ferry, OH, died Wednesday, January 2, 2013 at East Ohio Regional Hospital, Martins Ferry.
He was born November 11, 1923, in Martins Ferry a son of the late John Roth, Sr. and Anna (Lander) Roth.
Rich was a retired meat cutter for the former A & P and Super Duper Grocery stores of Martins Ferry. He retired from Heslop Funeral Home after 21 years of service.
He was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church, Ohio City Lodge 486 F. & A.M, Chapter 173 R.A.M., B.P.O.E. 895 and American Legion Post 38 all of Martins Ferry. Rich was a veteran of the U.S. Army Air Corps, WWII.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers; George, Arthur, John, Jr., Fritz, William and Herman Roth and sisters; Anna Marie Young Masters Freda Dietrich and Elizabeth Clark.
Surviving are his wife, Betty E. (Young) Roth of Cadiz, sons; Dennis R. (Jackie) Roth of Cadiz and Barry A. Roth of Shadyside, grandchildren; Jason (Julie) Roth of Stow, OH and Tiffany (Justin) Jeffers of Canal Fulton, OH and great-grandchildren; Nathaniel and Connor Roth and Olivia and Reid Jeffers, brother; Robert "Bob" Roth and sister; Pat Roth both of Martins Ferry. He is also survived by Kaylee Boyce.
Friends will be received Sunday 12-3 and 6-8 p.m. at the Heslop Funeral Home, 415 Walnut St., Martins Ferry, OH, where services will be held Monday, January 7, 2013 at 1 p.m. with Rev. Dr. Bill N. Lawrence officiating. Entombment follows in Holly Memorial Gardens, Pleasant Grove, OH.
Military honors will be presented by the Belmont County V.F.W. Honor Guard at 12:45 p.m. at the funeral home prior to the funeral.
Masonic Ritualistic services will be held Sunday, at 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
